Three months of boxes

Almost exactly 3 months ago, I needed to get something out of a storage locker, and reminded myself why I hated getting something out of the storage locker:

I found the thing I wanted. And as long as I was there, I said to myself, why not grab a couple of these boxes to see if I need to keep them?

And so, from (I think) June 9th until just this past Saturday, I brought home over 60 boxes of stuff going all the way back to [redacted], threw out or shredded about 15 boxes worth, reorganized everything, and put the remaining boxes back. This is how my dining room looked for much of the summer:

To give you an idea of how much work this required, I went through the first few boxes while I was watching the first disc of Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 2. I finished season 7 the last week of August and managed to complete all of Mad Men season 1, half of season 2, and half of the first season of Le Bureau des Légends, which everyone who loves John Le Carré needs to watch.

Finally, yesterday morning on the way to Morton Arboretum, I stuck the last 4 boxes onto their well-ordered stack:

My dining and guest rooms no longer have boxes everywhere, Cassie no longer gives the dining-room table side-eye, and my breakfast bar is usable again.

I expect I'll have to go through everything again someday, but at least right now everything is in chronological order and all the partially-collapsed or moldering boxes have gone to their final reward at the recycling plant.

(By the way, that Felt 65 is for sale; $500 or best offer. I'll even throw in the pump.)

I believe "[redacted]" is actually 1985, but I could be overly optimistic about that. Also, if I'd known you had a printer in storage I would've considered buying it rather than the one I have coming from Best Buy tomorrow. Darn, I could've helped you out with your damnéd storage locker one last time.

There's no printer in there. The white thing on top of the desk in the top photo is a bread maker. You're welcome to it; I've even still got the instruction book. And you're off by almost a century, as there are some antique books and documents in the mix.
